"The Devil and Rock n' Roll"
Tenderfoot

I am so happy Tenderfoot finally came out with a CD. After seeing them twice, I just couldn't wait to hear some of it on my stereo. Think of a mix of old Puller and the Foo Fighters (The Color and the Shape) with more of an emphasis on rawk music and less on post-punk. The title of the CD has banned it from some Christian bookstores, so Tenderfoot depends on selling these puppies at shows and whatever places will distro it. "Paid in Full" starts off the CD soft and builds up with a Dear Ephesus-ish riff, but slams into a rockin' song. Tenderfoot's brand of low frequency rock n roll is best showcased in "Broken Bones" as whinning riffs wail the intro and the boys yell 'Get up!' The quirky-ness of Dear Ephesus is still in Lou and Jeff's bones in the song "The Low Road to Heaven," but their own twist has been made: soft sing-songy vocals decorate the walls of the song, but the softness dies with the shout-along chorus, 'Don't ask for nothing, Cause it's all that I got.' The CD ends with a slow, peaceful instrumental perfect for staring into space. Overall, Tenderfoot is the kind of band you want playing in your car stereo as you drive down a lonely highway.
