How did the band get started? well me(blaster), blurr, and snarl all lived in north carolina. we had a band called slacker that was basically a youth group band, meaning we played only to our yg. we did mainly covers but released a 4 song demo of originals just before me and blurr(we're brothers) moved down to florida. there are only 4 copies of the demo in existance. when me and blurr got to florida we were all alone til we met a kid named kent. he was in a band named willy wonka and the sugartones, which sludge played bass for. we went to one of their shows and became friends with sludge, kent, and his brother joel. willy wonka's guitar players left i think so they asked me and blurr to play with them, creating the immortal swifties. we started to write some songs and entered a local battle of the bands where we came in 3rd place out of like 20 bands. we were happy. then after a month or 2 kent left the band because of creative differences, leaving us without a lead singer. so, i stepped up to that position. after kent departed we went through a plethora of names including; the skaptarts, the skaskank redemption(which was already taken), spaceman spiff(also already taken), and finally slushball derkins. it comes from calvin and hobbes if anyone wonders. so the first official lineup for slushball was me, blurr, sludge, and joel as our drummer. it took some time but we finally got enough songs to do some shows, mainly b-days and anything anyone would let us play at. all the while snarl was still in north carolina playing with a friend in a band called milk fed veal. they played mainly cover songs at bars on hatteras island. we bugged him to move down and play drums for us for months, and finally after countless prodding he came down and took over on the drums for joel who now plays in a band called catch phrase. thats the history of slushball as long and uninteresting as it may be.
