"Immortal Until Their Work Is Done"
Overcome

I can't tell you how excited I was when I heard this was out. Overcome is one of those staples for any hardcore fan and well, it's just a staple for any CD collection. The first time I was listening to this record was on my way home from seeing them at Cornerstone. Even after a week of music this CD was incredible, and I think my driving speed increased too. "Immortal Until Their Work Is Done" starts out on a brutal note and continues on, growls and all. Reading the lyrics to this record would make any person, Christian or not, think about who they are and what they are doing in their lives. The honesty in the lyrics combined with the pleading and intensity of his voice strip down the human barriers one puts up to protect themselves from what they don't want to face. This album may not be as well accepted in the secular market (too bad there is a difference between us and the secular market), due to the lyrical content. However among us that have loved Overcome from the beginning, we embrace this new one, and continue to grow in a respect of this band (even though their days are winding to a close). Who couldn't love a band that throws a song of praise into the middle of chaos and mayhem? This album will make you lift your heart and hands in sorrow for your shortcomings, in praise of our Father, and in surrender to a God that knows all, (and well, in the crazy pit at a show too.)
