How did the band get started? evan: about 4 years ago we decided we wanted to start a band, so that Christmas we asked for our instruments as presents. after that we learned the instruments, and one year later, we played our first show as 99 spencers. we later added alex as a second guitarist and changed our name to next in line
What is your goal as a band? to do God's will.
What style do you play? we've been calling it punk rock'n'roll
What is the music scene like in your area? there was none when we started. after a couple of years, we had about 12 good bands, but now there's too many good bands, and it's gotten hard to keep track of all of them with college and stuff.
What bands influence your band? face to face , the clash, and forth grade nothing
What kind of a ministry does the band have? we used to play a lot around here (indianapolis), but we've been taking a break to learn new stuff, and we want to branch out to more out of town shows.
If you had the choice, which band would you tour with? if we had the choice between face to face, bleach, craig's brother, and dogwood (which would all be fun) we'd probably tour with mxpx because they are just such nice boys.
Any interesting concert experiences or funny/weird stories? we just played in wisconsin, and our friend who played in our hardcore sets when he lived in indianapolis. he moved to wisconsin though, and got us a gig there. well he proposed to his girlfriend at the show, which was different. we'll be playing at a wedding in a week or so too, so i guess you could call us a match-making band.
What's the wackiest thing you've ever done in concert? we played in our boxers once at a party, but in a concert where anyone could show up, we're up to allsorts of different things. we just try to have fun. i think the best part is hanging out after the shows with the kids.

Do you ever play cover songs? yeah, we do all sorts of covers, including: Brown eyed girl by van morrison, we used to cover a face to face song, a social distortion song, and some different mxpx songs. we also cover a lot of praise songs: Lord I Lift your name on high, light the fire again, and we even do a Christmas song: Come all ye faithful
Best and worst things about being in a band? it's a lot of fun, and a lot of work. it evens out. you can't just go to a show and play and hang out with everyone afterwards, you have to load up equipment write songs, record them, deal with criticism, and you have to go out and promote or no one will know about your band. it such hard work, but as long as we're getting pleasure out of it, we'll keep doing it.
Anything people should know about the band? we all eat meat, and love Jesus.

Do you have any cds,demos, etc., out? we have one CD out called "Vegetable Liberation" with 9 songs. it was recorded by will mcginnis of audio adrenaline. and we just recorded a new split Cd with slingshot 9 (another punk band from here) called "all in the family" we are currently planning on recording a full length some time in april of 99.
