Nickel and Dime

Unleaded: Who all is in the band?
Jon: Jon Shirley (Lead Vocal, Guitars); Zac Murtha(Lead Guitars, Backing vocals); Mark Colbert (Drums); Nathan Copeland (Bass); Kenny Schweer (Road Manager)
Unleaded: How long have you guys been together?
Jon: The Band has existed in various forms for four plus years.
Unleaded: How would you best describe your sound?
Jon: Nickel and Dime is probably best described as a Pop-Rock band.
Unleaded: Who or what influences your music the most - both lyrically and musically?
Jon: Well, Different music effects different guys in the band. And all of those particular influences are heard from each member on different songs. But as a whole, we listen to a lot of Modern Rock Music together. We like bands like Tonic, The Foo Fighters, Train, But the latest influence which we have been very excited about is a band called Vertical Horizon. We've seen them live, and were absolutely blown away. So, musically those are probably the greatest recent influences. But lyrically, that's a whole different ballgame. At the heart Nickel and Dime is a desire to see God exalted and Worshiped. Through our songs and through our lives. Therefore when I was writing this record (the lyrics), I listened to allot of Darrell Evens, Delirious, Paul Baloche, and any other cool worship stuff I could get my hands on.
Unleaded: What is the coolest thing that has ever happened at one of your shows?
Jon: Wow! What a question! Well, I can honestly say that over the last four years we've seen some COOL stuff happen! From people getting saved, to filled more with the Holy Spirit. And almost every night lately has been so cool. God is making himself known in powerful ways to people. That is always cool. But right on the front my mind is something that happened last year. We were leading worship in Texas for a youth weekend event. During an alter call, this young guy came forward. He was probably a seventh grader. The Holy Spirit moved on this kid in that moment so powerfully that he became oblivious to anyone else around but the Lord. And by the expressions on his face, through the tears and the groans, you almost wondered if he was truly seeing the Lord high and lifted up. We watched this experience go on in him for at least 30-45 min. God proved himself powerful to that kid that night. I know he'll never be the same.
Unleaded: Do you have any CDs out and/or plans for any new ones?
Jon: We released our latest CD entitled "When You Come Around" in October of 99'. ( "Eight through Nine", and "Three Days in March" previously)
Unleaded: If you could say one thing to the world, what would it be?
Jon: We would send out a huge very loud proclamation of God's love for the needy ones, the broken ones, the imperfect ones, and the sinful ones. We would tell them that God weeps over them, and longs to know them more intimately than they have ever been known or could ever be known.
Unleaded: How can people contact you guys?
