How did the band get started? Ken and I met through a mutual friend and started playing together with a different drummer. This was about 4 years ago. That line-up lasted about 4 months - the drummer left. Ken knew Brad from high school, so he started playing with us about 3 and half years ago. The rest is history.
What is your goal as a band? We don't have any long-term goals. We just take each day as it comes. We want to continue to explore new ground (artistically speaking), and we want to continue perfecting our playing and writing skills. We don't want to become stagnate.
What is the music scene like in your area? I don't want to bad mouth it because we are not really involved in it. We perceive it as being unfocused and near death (but that's probably because we don't know what the scene is and who is involved).
What bands influence your band? Unwound. Today Is The Day. Blonde Redhead. Moonshake. The Jesus Lizard.
What kind of a ministry does the band have? As far as an outward ministry, we don't have one. God uses Lugsole to break and rebuild Lugsole. Sometimes people are encouraged by that, but that's not our main purpose. Lugsole is very personal. God teaches us through Lugsole.
If you had the choice, which band would you tour with? I would want to tour with Unwound. Brad and Ken probably wouldn't turn that opportunity down.
What's the wackiest thing you've ever done in concert? At a show about two years ago, Brad did the "forbidden dance" on stage and took his shirt off and threw it into the audience. In his defense, he was strongly pressured into doing this.
What would you say the best part of the show is? For me, it's right when I break a sweat.
Best and worst things about being in a band? Best: Being in a band is an artistic release. If you enjoy creating, you need an outlet. Lugsole is an outlet for us. Worst: The business side.
Anything people should know about the band? For a short period recently, we were all addicted to SimTower. Brad and I never finished building our tower. I think Ken came really close.
How can people contact you for merch and stuff? You can go to our web site here to find out the latest Lugsole happenings and what music and merchandise we have available.
