"Clarity"- Jimmy Eat World

What happens when a band matures into something just so melodic and beautiful? You get Clarity. This album is just ten times better than their Capitol debut, Static Prevails. It steers away from its pop-punk/emo roots and has developed into a melodic rock quartet with singing. I mean, really, this is beautiful stuff. They use a violin, cello, and farfisa on at least half the songs and it just mixes so well with new sound. "Just Watch the Fireworks" almost reminds me of "I'll Be Missing You" (The Police) for some odd reason, but it just has that passion and purity. "Lucky Denver Mint" has a drum beat that gets your heart thumping and the harmonies are just perfect. You hear their roots coming out on "Your New Aesthetic" so new fans can hera where they came from. Oh, I just love the re-make of "Crush" (originally named "Secret Crush" on the Mineral/Jimmy Eat World/Sense Field split 7"). It's the perfect love song. Speaking of love songs, "For Me is this is Heaven" is a great song to dedicate to your girlfriend on the radio: "Can you still feel the butterflies? Can you still hear the last goodnight? Close my eyes and believe wherever you are, an angel for me." Pure emotion put into harmonies and the creative minds of Jimmy Eat World.
