Well, this CD features two members that have left the band for various
reasons (Adam/drums & vocals, and Seth/vocals & keys), but it's still good
to hear something with them still involved. The full length wasn't released
for this reason (and Justin, I still don't get why this a good reason :),
but that's the way it goes I guess. The first track ("Locus of My
Discontented Heart") immediately made me think of Roadside Monument and
their last record. The guitar/bass lines are twins to that album. At the end
of the song, it rages into a screamy indy-rock style (guess the boys could
never get away from hardcore). "Heroes on Heroin" is definitely an indy-rock
song softly sung to a guitar-picked line and slow chord progressions. 3 of
the 4 band members share the vocals so the words are layered and there are
plenty of "ahh"s and "ooohh"s (think of Lovelorn or Octane Blue). The EP
ends with a worship song ("Bondservant") about repentance: 'So Jesus I need
to be Yours again, nobody holds me like me like You. So I'm crawling into
Your Lap once more (Your arms forever).' It will be interesting to see how
the sound of Cordelia's Rebellion changes with former members from Puller
and Ester Drang. We'll find out soon enough because they're recording not
too long from now (that was quick). So be on the lookout.
