Chase the Sun
-- The Supertones --
When you hear the words "Christian Ska" uttered from someone's lips most people's first thoughts are of those well known Rudeboys in the black suits and ties from southern California, The OC Supertones. The Supertones first really got noticed because of their Sophomore album, "Supertones Strike Back" and their follow-up album has long since been awaited by any and all ska fans on the Christian music scene. However the fans will be very surprised and possibly a little dissapointed at the loss of the old Ska-Core sound we're so used to hearing from these guys. But this Ska fanatic is very impressed at the maturity shown in the Supertone's 3rd album. The album, "Chase The Sun", includes Gospel, an almost Beastie Boys sounding Rap Song, and an almost Countryish sound on 'Revolution'. Also the lyrics on this album are much more diverse than the previous two albums. However, with all these new styles coming in the boys from OC still have that upbeat guitar in just about every song. So, to make a long review short, go out and buy the album, it's worth whatever they're charging.
