Brandtson has always stunned me with their ability transfer the melancholy or emotions they feel to the listener. Unlike many emo bands, the listener does not feel like merely a spectator. The songs are the words your heart could never quite form without Brandtson's assistance. Most of the songs on this short (only 6 songs, plus a techo version of a classic Brandtson song) CD focus on relationships, and not a happy viewpoint either. Brandtsons CD is a man's soul at its most bare and naked point, allowing us to enter his personal gloom and misery. But this journey with him through the pains we feel would fail to be a Brandtson CD without a song that rallies the heart and makes us finally get that gasp of air we were searching for. "Bricks and Windows" begin sullenly and softly, then gently crescendos to a level of intensity unlike most achieved in a typical song. The passion, hurt, and emotions wrapped up in this CD are overwhelming. "Trying to Figure Each Other Out" will reveal things you have pent up inside your trampled soul, and let you finally receive some of the solace so pursued.
