Born Blind

Tell me about who is in the band: nate jerrell, 21. chris beckett, 23. judd morgan, 24. kurt love, 44.

How did the band get started? well, when i left N.I.V., i still wanted to play in hardcore band but not as seriously as it was in NIV so i could go back to school and get a job. this is where i felt God was calling me. nate was about to join N.I.V. when i left, but he too felt that he wanted to stay in school and move on with that part of his life, so i teamed up with him to start and new band. we tried out a few drummers and we werent having much success, i asked kurt to play with us, but he declined twice after he finally called me and told me he would join the band because he felt that was where God was calling him. chris, who i had played with in a band called militia about 6 years ago had just got back into town after living in new jersey for about two years. originally the line up was chris and nate on guitars, kurt on drums, and i did lead vocals and bass. after the first show we realized that it wouldnt work out with me doing both bass and vocals for the sake of singalongs and stuff.... we were thinking about either getting a new vocalist or a new bassist, but chris stepped up, put down the guitar and picked up the bass and it worked out awesome that way.

What is your goal as a band? Have fun and not only tell kids about the Lord, but to be there to listen.

What style do you play? old school hardcore....circa 91' - on.

Where are you guys from? san diego, ca.

What is the music scene like in your area? mostly punk rock and ska.

What bands influence your band? everything around us.

What kind of a ministry does the band have? i think that was somewhere up in the goals.

If you had the choice, which band would you tour with? i dunno... P.O.D. is pretty fun to tour with! ;)

Any interesting concert experiances or funny/weird stories? yeah, we were invited to this show from some vegan kids because they had found a flyer that some Christians had put out about how it is wrong to be a homosexual.... so we showed up and everyone was all dressed up in drag and/or wearing pentagrams on their foreheads. so the band that invited us played before us were toally saying fxxx Christianity and blah blah blah.... but he made himself look like a totat idiot. we were lauging at the whole thing because it was so ludicrous!!! i mean... just because you are a Christian doent mean you are a homophob!!!! so anyways.... after they played, we played and people were coming up apologizing to us for the way the other band had treated us.... the owner kicked that other band never to come back, and invited us to play again the next month. oh yeah, then they broke up!

What's the wackiest thing you've ever done in concert? i once sang with my zipper totally down for 4 songs(accidentally) people were laughing at me and i thought they thought we just sucked!

What would you say the best part of the show is? what show???

Do you ever play cover songs? nah, but we are thinking about a few.

Best and worst things about being in a band? people have this huge expectation of what kind of person you are supposed to be...and i usually let them down. ;)

Do you have any cds, demos, etc., out? yeah we have a demo(out of print) and a full lenth cd. out on facedown records called "pressing on"

How can people contact you for merch and stuff? through facedown records.
