Blindside

First off, thanks for doing this. Tell me about who is in the band.
Tomas, bass
Marcus, drums
Christian, vocals
Simon, guitars and background vocals

How did the band get started?
We were just a couple of guys who wanted to play. We talked about it for awhile and Marcus got us a place to rehearse and we were at it. We started getting gigs and it was something we enjoyed doing, so that's where we're at right now.

What is your goal as a band?
To have fun and dedicate out music to the Lord.

What style do you play?
We don't like to label our music, other people do it better so we let them. Basically it's a mixup from hardcore and some metal.. hmm,, something like that with a groove and some melodies.

What is the music scene like in your area?
It's pretty good.. well, we have a big hardcore scene in Sweden but we don't really fit into that genre.. and therefor we don't really have any success over here yet. But there's to much crap like eurotechno and stuff like that. Lots of good "real" techno though.. like acid and trance.. Marcus is really into that kinda music.

How did you guys get signed to Tooth and Nail Records?
A guy at our swedish label handed a cd to Brandon Ebel at T&N and a couple of weeks later he called us up and we signed a licencing deal with them.

Any plans for a second album?
We're actually working on material for our next album and will start recording in february. We have about ten songs ready and it's a little more aggresive then the older stuff. It'll be out srpingtimeof 1999.

What bands influence your band?
All kinda bands that have any kind of energy influence us. We get influenced by bands that we play with or see in concerts, like refused for example who had such amazing liveshow.

What kind of a ministry does the band have?
We basically want to tell people about our believes in Jesus christ, how awesome he is and how important it is to us.

If you had the choice, which band would you tour with?
There's so many, we'd like to do some touring with secular bands though to get the message out to all kinds of people.

Any interesting concert experiances or funny/weird stories?
We always have fun on stage, but we've had some cool stuff happening, like when Tomas really went of a little to much and fell of the stage.

What's the wackiest thing you've ever done in concert?
Well.. at one time we had this kinda cool gig and we had a song we wanted to play if the people yelled for us back in.. they didn't though so we grabbed the microphone of stage and started shouting "one more time!!!" So we got to play that song after all. Stuff like that.

Do you ever play cover songs?
Not really.. we did a jazzversion of Pantera's "Walk" which was pretty cool.. and also we have this praise song in a skatepunk version that another band did before us. We've been talking about some covers though.. we'll see.

Best and worst things about being in a band?
Best: hanging out with the guys in the band
Worst:hanging out with the guys in the band

How can people contact you about shows?
Mail us at this adress: [email protected] We don't have a booking agency at the moment... so that's the easiest thing to get ahold of us.
