How did the band get started? The band got started by mainly prayer. Ryan and I prayed for a christian band to come together and in a matter of 2 weeks it happened. (Kids, prayer does work, kool huh) We met at A Firehouse where we live. It is a christian cafe sort of and thats when we got all of the instruments in. Billy came a little bit later when he started going to church with Ryan, Steve A., and I. He was in chorus so we asked him and he said o.k.
What is your goal as a band? Our goal is to plant seeds of truth in the unbeliever's mind about how great God is and to uplift christians that are already saved.
What style do you play? We play ska/surf/punk/ and a littleswing all mixed up. We call it Ska influenced bubblegum punk
Where are you guys from? We are from Western Maryland. Cumberland to be exact.
What is the music scene like in your area? The music is mostly secular but christain music is becoming more popular every day.
What bands influence your band? Wow, a lot of bands do. I guess we have to say The Insyderz(for the hardcore ska), The Supertones(for their humilty up on stage), Silage(for their differant sounding style) and all actuality, any band devoted to God. That inspires us to see other christians going out and delivering the message.
What kind of a ministry does the band have? Our ministry is mainly for the teenage audience, but if we get an old person saved, that's great too. We like to show people that being a christian can be kool. Some people think if you get saved, the fun dissapears. That is the opposite of what really happens.
If you had the choice, which band would you tour with? I think we would go with Silage, they are one of the most talented groups ever. Plus The Supertones, they could help us as a group in general, they put on a great show but are so humble in the process.
Any interesting concert experiances or funny/weird stories? Not really any in concert, all of them have been great. A couple of times though we have gotten the cops called on us for playing to loud on church property.
What's the wackiest thing you've ever done in concert? It is wacky a lot of times. I guess when we got dressed up in old yardsale clothes that were for 5 year olds. It was tough getting them off.
What would you say the best part of the show is? The surf song, (Mighty Man)
Do you ever play cover songs?Sacrifice-The Insyderz, Be True to your School-Silage, The Beach Boys
Best and worst things about being in a band? The best is praising God and the spiritual high u get when playing. The worst thing is the devil attacking at you more often.
Anything people should know about the band? We rock, but nobody rocks harder than God.
Do you have any cds, demos, etc., out? Our demo is being made as we speak and it is also going to be recorded by Mike Nau. We are making our own cd too.
How can people contact you for merch and stuff? Our weblink is http://www.webalias.com/skaskaska or email at [email protected]
Any final comments? Keep rockin the Truth, Live life for the Glory of God and all things will be added unto u.
